Our Story- Baby Boomers wishing to inspire fellow Baby Boomers

Traveling to the beat of two mantras ‘Chase time – not money’ & ‘Age is no barrier when it comes to travel”

The daily grind of corporate life had us ‘existing’ not ‘living’. Working long hours, commuting, earning a salary, paying taxes and putting money aside for retirement – it seemed a never-ending cycle.

We began to ask ourselves if we really could keep this pace up for another decade. We worried whether, at the end of that time, we’d still be healthy enough to follow our travel dreams.

Our boys had left home and we’d already taken the step of downsizing our family home to a two-bedroom apartment in Sydney, Australia.

Then one of our sons took a gap year and we followed his adventures, travelling vicariously through South America and Europe with some envy.

Then it hit us – why couldn’t we have a gap year? And why just a year?!

We already had our bucket list: Macchu Pichu, Iguassu Falls, a month in Myanmar, hot air ballooning in Cappadocia – the list grew every day.

If not now, when?

We put all our fears aside and consciously stepped out of our comfort zone. We wanted the freedom to decide where to next and and how long we’d stay there. At the top of our ‘want list’ was ‘Value for Money’.

Our first epic one year round the world, flash-packing adventure started in February 2013 completedin 2014

We are just two of four million baby boomers in Australia and 450 million worldwide.
We’ve made the break – and you can too.

Current Daily Budget: AU$92

Could we do better? Yes we can!  We set out in 2014/2015 with a plan to travel on the equivalent of the Australian Couple Aged Pension which is in the region of AU$92/day. The result was – we achieved it to the cent. We share  our content how we achieve this. It is important as baby Boomers that we remind ourselves that we need to set goals. The goals have to be intentions, committed to the heart and the mind.

If you want to know how to down-size, how to empty the nest and embark on the adventure of your life – you’ve come to the right place.

We’ll inspire you: how to get off the treadmill – all the tips and tricks to down-sizing.

We’ll show you: how to travel the world, live like a local – cheaply
